Atmospheric Methane Spike Caused by Microbes, Not Fossil Fuel Emissions, Researchers Find

Recently published research suggests a recent, rapid rise in global methane emissions was caused by methane-producing microbes thriving in a warmer, wetter world. It also suggests a possible feedback loop spurred by, and itself accelerating, climate change.
