A consultant’s report suggesting that fossil fuel companies could extract another trillion barrels of oil from existing wells is just an “attention-grabbing” bid to help clients chase an industry “holy grail”, while eliminating any hope of holding average global warming to 1.5°C, a veteran industry researcher says.
