Smoke From Climate-Fueled Wildfires Linked to Thousands of U.S. Deaths Over 15 Years

From 2006 to 2020, climate change contributed to about 15,000 deaths in the United States from exposure to fine particulate matter from wildfires and caused an estimated $160 billion in damages, according to one of the first studies to directly link climate change to mortality.
