California Reviews Amazon Oil Ties After Indigenous Pleas

After meeting with Indigenous leaders from Ecuador, California—the world’s largest consumer of Amazonian oil—introduced a landmark resolution urging officials to scrutinize the state’s reliance on those imports. The move comes as Ecuador prepares to auction off 14 new oil blocks mainly in Indigenous territory.
